Mega Millions Jackpot Rises to $31 Million
UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Even though there was no jackpot winner in Friday's Mega Millions drawing, a lot of players still walked away winners. With nine different ways to win, a total of 358,585 tickets won prizes in the August 11 drawing. That includes four tickets that each won $250,000. Since no ticket matched all six numbers to take home the jackpot, that jackpot grows to an estimated $31 million for the Tuesday, August 15, 2006 drawing.
The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 14-16-38-40-49 and the Mega Ball number was 29.
The four tickets that each won $250,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Georgia, Maryland, Michigan and New York.
Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
