Mega Millions Jackpot Grows to Estimated $58 Million

(PRESS RELEASE) -- 2004 may be drawing to a close, but Mega Millions excitement is just getting started. Nearly 300,000 tickets won prizes in the Tuesday, December 28 drawing. Although no ticket matched all six numbers to win the estimated $48 million jackpot, nine tickets each won $175,000 and 24 tickets each won $5,000. Now the excitement continues to grow as the jackpot for the Friday, December 31, 2004 Mega Millions drawing hits an estimated $58 million.

The winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing were 18-29-32-38-43 and the Mega Ball number was 50.

Those nine tickets that each won $175,000 did so by coming within just one number of hitting the jackpot. They matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. The tickets were sold in Georgia (1), Illinois (1), Massachusetts (1), New Jersey (1), New York (3), Texas (1) and Virginia (1).

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
