Mega Million Jackpot Rises to $53 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mega Millions is creating excitement from coast to coast! Players in the 12 Mega Millions states won big in the Friday, December 16, 2005 drawing, as a total of 478,794 tickets won prizes. There was no jackpot winner, so the jackpot jumps to an estimated $53 million for the Tuesday, December 20, 2005 drawing.

The winning numbers in Friday's drawing were: 14-25-26-31-56 and the Mega Ball number was 17. Three tickets came within just one number of hitting the jackpot in Friday's drawing. Each matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Illinois, New Jersey and Ohio.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
