Mega Million Jackpot Grows to $64 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- So you think nobody won Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing? Not so. Even without a jackpot winner, there were more than 440,000 winning tickets from coast to coast. Since no ticket in Tuesday's drawing matched all six numbers, the jackpot for the Friday, December 23, 2005 Mega Millions drawing grows to an estimated annuity value of $64 million.

The winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing were: 6-20-23-40-56 and the Mega Ball number was 36. Here is a complete breakdown of the winning tickets:

Pari-mutuel prizes means that prize amounts vary with the number of tickets sold and the number of winning tickets in each prize category.

Six tickets came within a heartbeat of winning the jackpot. Each matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Three of those tickets were purchased in California, two in New Jersey and one in Michigan.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
