Mega Million Jackpot Grows to $17 Million

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The jackpot is growing once again in Mega Millions. Less than a week after a ticket sold in Middlesex County, New Jersey won an estimated $47 million jackpot, Mega Millions excitement is building. A total of 381,456 tickets from coast to coast were winners in the Tuesday, June 6, 2006 drawing. Since no ticket matched all six numbers, the jackpot for the Friday, June 9, 2006 Mega Millions drawing grows to an estimated $17 million.

The winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing were: 05-29-35-52-53 and the Mega Ball number was 9.

Six tickets came within just one number of the jackpot. They matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York and Texas.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
