Mecca, Gala Bingo raise £24,000 for charity
8 Aug 2017
Team members from 13 South East Mecca Bingo clubs took to the pitch to help raise funds for Carers Trust to help support the seven million carers in the U.K.
Having been charity partners since February 2014, Mecca Bingo recently celebrated an incredible fundraising milestone of £1,500,000 by undertaking various charity initiatives and fundraising activities.
Gala Bingo also polished off their football boots to raise money for their chosen charity partner, Variety. The charity provides practical, tangible help that makes an immediate difference to children and families who have to cope with sickness, disability or disadvantage.
Football fans turned out to cheer on the teams, and thanks to additional donations in the collection buckets, a fantastic total of over £24,000 was raised for the chosen charities.
Mark Brenton, area manager for the South East at Mecca Bingo, said, "We're thrilled with the amount we've raised for Carers Trust. We really appreciate the work that carers do, and we love to get involved in as many different fundraising activities as we can.
"The money raised will help Carers Trust to support thousands of unpaid carers through a grants fund, to give carers the equipment and skills they need to carry out their caring roles, while also ensuring that their own health and well-being are looked after."
Bradley Wise, general manager at Gala's Chatham club and one of the event organizers, said, "Gala Bingo is proud to be associated with Variety, the Children's Charity — the charity of choice for the Bingo Association.
"Our customers and staff are always supportive of their local community, we are delighted to have raised such a fantastic sum of money for this worthy cause. As an industry, we hope to achieve our target to raise £1 million by the end of 2018."
