"In remarks to a group of local executives in downtown Boston, Cahill endorsed the idea of two or even three, full-scale, $1 billion resort casinos in the state.
"But he dismissed long-standing proposals pushed by some local racetrack owners that would simply add giant slot parlors next to their racing venues.
"Cahill said gambling outlets should be limited, pointing to Pennsylvania, where there are now 66,000 slot machines a few years after expanded gambling was approved.
"...But if the state decides to legalize expanded gambling, resort casinos, drawing dollars from out of state, would be the way to go. Racetrack slots would draw mainly from locals, he argued..."
