Massachusetts releases new lotto game
MASSACHUSETTS – As reported by the South Coast Today: "The Massachusetts Lottery Commission's new 'Star Spangled Sweepstakes' game going on sale Tuesday is expected to sell out in 11 days, raising $80 million.
"While the new game would be a boon to local communities and pay one lucky winner $20 million and make millionaires of 10 others, the sweepstakes is drawing a mixed reaction.
"…The $20 sweepstakes tickets will go on sale Tuesday and theoretically would be available until June 30. A maximum of 4 million tickets will be sold, with 51 winners being drawn on Independence Day, the state's Lottery Commission said.
"The top prize is $20 million paid in cash in one lump sum. A total of $40 million in cash prizes will be awarded, including 10 prizes of
"$1 million and 40 prizes of $250,000, the commission said.
"The Lottery Commission is banking on the lure of becoming an instant millionaire to drive sales…"
