Malaysia's Resorts Expected to Make Comeback
MALAYSIA – As reported by the Malaysia Business Times: "Resorts World Bhd's casino business in Malaysia is expected to see strong revenue growth of about 5 per cent this year as the market shrugs off the full negative impact from last year's Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
"This is after it goes through a possible 1 per cent revenue decline in 2003, said K&N Kenanga Research.
"…Analysts continue to be bullish on Resorts' stock, preferring it to that of its parent company Genting Bhd, in part because of its superior earnings growth potential.
"Going forward, analysts said an issue of concern for Resorts is potential competition from new casinos sprouting up in the region.
"New casinos are expected to come up in Macau by this year or next, while Thailand is exploring the possibility of starting one which is likely to be located in the touristic area of Pattaya…"
