Lazrus wins WSOP Online $3,200 NLH High Roller Championship

29 Jul 2021

On Tuesday night, the 2021 World Series of Poker Online Event #28: $3,200 NLH High Roller Championship attracted 202 players who rebought 163 times.

The 265-entry field generated a $805,600 prize pool, and after 11 hours of play, it was Daniel "RiverRats" Lazrus coming out on top to win a $205,347 first-place prize and his first career gold bracelet.

Prior to the win, Lazrus only had two WSOP-related cashes totaling $34,790 but his third was his lucky charm, as it not only came in a career-best cash but also with a coveted WSOP gold bracelet.

After Dan "BackDoorDan" Smith eliminated Sang "youngkoi" Lee on the bubble in 37th place, the in-the-money eliminations came at a steady pace which included two-time WSOP bracelet winner Bryan "Pellepelle" Piccioli (25th - $5,639), three-time WSOP bracelet winner Nick "CashUsKlay" Schulman (13th - $9,103), WSOP bracelet winner Barry "puigmyfriend" Hutter (15th - $3,744), ]Joe "swansong79" Kuether (11th - $11,198), and Josh "YoelRomero" King (9th - $14,098).

Half of the final eight players were bracelet winners with both Jeremiah "freestylerr" Williams and David "dpeters17" Peters looking to become the first-ever two-time online bracelet winners.

With half of the final table being bracelet winner, there was a chance one of them would fall first, and Jim "BOCARATONE" Collopy was that person. Collopy jammed preflop with ace-ten and was called by Peters holding a dominating ace-jack. Williams started the final table third in chips but was next to go after he lost a race holding a pair of sixes to Brett "Metanemesis" Apter holding ace-queen.

The fall of the top stacks continued after Felix "madenspauwke" Vandeput saw his lead evaporate as the blinds went up and got in good with ace-nine against Lazrus holding a dominated ace-seven. Vandeput stayed ahead after the flop but Lazrus turned a seven, ending his tournament in sixth place.

Peters was next to go after his pocket rockets were tripped up Buzgon's ace-queen, and then Michael "DirtyMike973" Marone busted a few short hands later after getting it in with a made hand of sevens only to be called by Lazrus holding a crushing pair of eights.

A couple of hands later, Buzgon won a race with pocket eights against Apter holding a king-jack and Apter had to settle for third place and $87,246 in prize money.

The heads-up match was a battle of New Jersey players with Buzgon hold a slight chip advantage over Lazrus. The two battled back and forth until Buzgon called off his stack on the river holding a weak ace. Lazrus turned over top two-pair and Buzgon had to settle for a second-place finish for the second time this series.
