L.A. Poker Open begins next week

COMMERCE, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The L.A. Poker Open returns to Commerce Casino, November 2-21, and the last major tournament of the 2011 poker season is offering something for everybody.

The 20-event schedule opens with a $225 buy-in and $300,000 guarantee, with $75,000 guaranteed to the winner. Players who bust out on Day 1A of the event may re-enter November 3-5 (on Days 1B, 1C and 1D of the event).

The L.A. Poker Open will wrap up with a $600,000 prize pool for the Championship Event. The buy-in is $2,085 with an estimated $150,000 to the winner.

The L.A. Poker Open is marking the end of the 2011 major tournament season by offering a wide range of poker during the tournament.

"Many players are expanding the types of poker they are playing and it's our goal at Commerce Casino to offer tournaments for every player in every type of poker play," said Jeff Harris, Commerce Casino Manager.

Those games include the popular and ever-growing Omaha 8 or Better, the Horse events, and the smaller buy-in ($125) Turbo event, which is offering a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool and $50,000 for first place.

Another of the games gaining support among tournament players is Pot Limit Omaha on November 14. There are $100 re-buys during the first four levels with $25,000 guaranteed prize pool and $10,000 for First Place.

Ryan Goindoo captured the California State Poker Championship No Limit Hold 'em title and $160,250.

Next into the winner's circle was Aaron Motoyama, who walked away from the Million Dollar Tournament at Commerce Casino with a cool $146,870. Alexandru Masek won the third leg of Commerce Casino's major championship tournaments by winning $78,140 and the distinctive Commerce Trophy at the Hold 'em Series Main Event.
