Ksa makes Cruks process easier

22 Apr 2026

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Dutch Gaming Authority has made it easier for administrators to register clients with gambling problems in the Central Register for Exclusion from Gambling (Cruks). Administrators can now register their clients in Cruks more quickly, as the process has been simplified.

People under administration regularly struggle with financial problems. These can be caused by gambling problems or be exacerbated by them. Registration in Cruks can therefore be helpful for this target group. However, administrators indicated that the existing process for forcibly registering a client in Cruks was very time-consuming.

Simplified process
Previously, administrators had to demonstrate that problematic gambling behavior existed and that this caused harm to the client or their immediate environment. The Ksa is now adjusting this. The professional judgment of the administrator carries more weight, meaning fewer additional supporting documents are required. As a result, a client can be registered in Cruks by their administrator within two weeks.

Protection of vulnerable players
With this change, the Ksa aims to prevent vulnerable groups from suffering financial damage and falling into further financial difficulties as a result of participating in gambling. Registration in Cruks prevents registered persons from gaining access to legal online gambling, slot machine halls, and casinos in the Netherlands.

The Ksa expects that this will enable administrators to intervene more quickly when gambling leads to financial or social problems among vulnerable groups.
