At one of the three providers, gamblers could win a special t-shirt, with the name and logo of the provider. The distribution of ‘merchandise’ is prohibited, because this is undirected advertising that will be visible in public space.
Two other providers violated the ban on untargeted advertising by going further than just a neutral expression in sponsorships. Although sports sponsorship and sponsorship of television and radio programs are still allowed, strict rules are attached to this. For example, the sponsorship may not be more than a neutral expression by which the provider can be recognized, for example the logo or the brand name of a provider. One of the two providers also heard and saw the slogan with program sponsorship, which is not a neutral expression as far as the Ksa is concerned. At the second provider, visitors to a sports competition were encouraged to use the operator’s app.
