John Campbell, Youbet.com Sign Deal

14 Sep 2004

WOODLAND HILLS, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- For Hall of Fame harness driver John Campbell, this year's quest for the Little Brown Jug comes with a new uniform "wrinkle": the bold orange and black embroidered logo of Youbet.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:UBET). The presence of the Youbet logo provides a winning stamp of approval for Campbell and a group of fellow drivers who recently agreed to let sponsors advertise on their uniforms.

Though quite common in Europe, advertising on driver uniforms is new to the U.S. harness racing industry. Just as he has throughout his illustrious career -- he's the sport's all-time money earner -- Campbell is leading the way for corporate sponsorship opportunities in an untapped and growing market space.

As Campbell prepares for the 2004 Little Brown Jug on September 23 in Delaware, Ohio, he knows people are taking notice of the Youbet colors, producing frequent and winning impressions for Youbet. But according to Campbell, wearing the Youbet logo on his uniform represents much more than an endorsement.

"I want to be involved with sponsors who are serious about harness racing and who are willing to make strong commitments to growing fan interest in our sport," he said. "Youbet fulfills that completely."

Campbell says that the logos are drawing increasing attention at the track, in magazines and through simulcasting. When asked about Youbet, he encourages people to visit the Youbet.com website so they can experience the excitement of harness racing "live" any time they want.

"Harness racing is a great product," Campbell said, "and once people see it and wager on it, either in person or through Youbet.com, they keep coming back."

Youbet's results are proof of Campbell's enthusiasm. Since signing Campbell and striking deals with tracks to carry the vast majority of races in the 2004 Grand Circuit, the Company's harness handle has risen by more than 20%.

"Much of the increase is coming from fans that are new to Standardbred racing," said Jeff Franklin, VP, Product Development at Youbet. "That's due to the attention we pay to our base of horse racing bettors, who are now expanding their betting options, and to the visibility John Campbell provides for our product line."

Youbet introduced an innovative service this month that delivers double-barreled, exciting harness racing action. Youbet's new 2-X video lets racing fans watch two races at the same time on their computers. "It's really the top of the line," Campbell says.

Youbet.com is the largest Internet provider of thoroughbred, quarter horse and harness horse racing content in the United States. Members have the ability to watch and, in most states, the ability to wager on vast majority of all major domestic horse racing content via Youbet.com's exclusive closed-loop network. Youbet.com members enjoy features that include commingled track pools, live audio/video, up-to-the-minute track information, real-time wagering information, phone wagering and value-added handicapping products.

Youbet.com is an official online wagering platform of Churchill Downs Incorporated and the Kentucky Derby. Youbet.com operates Youbet.com TotalAccess(TM), an Oregon-based hub for the acceptance and placement of wagers. More information on Youbet can be found at www.Youbet.com.

John Campbell is one of several top harness drivers and trainers in the "Standardbred Stars" program introduced and managed by Branding Rights LLC, a developer of leading edge branding and sponsorship platforms. "The expansion of simulcasting, increases in purse money, better quality racing and fresh marketing efforts are creating new, younger fans and a more diverse audience for harness racing," said Charles Geffen, President of Branding Rights.

"We expect our program to grow," said Billy Haughton, Director of Harness Racing Operations for Branding Rights, "and we appreciate the commitment Youbet has made to our effort and to John Campbell, one of the greatest athletes in horse racing history."
