Jesper Hougaard joins Bet 365

29 Aug 2008

PRESS RELEASE) -- bet365 are delighted to announce that Jesper Hougaard, the Danish professional poker player and 2008 WSOP bracelet winner, has joined Poker at bet365 as their new brand ambassador.

As part of his association with one of the world's leading poker rooms, 24-year-old Jesper will participate in fortnightly bounty tournaments and other activities hosted by Poker at bet365 where a number of great prizes will be up for grabs. Hougaard will also be representing bet365 and battling it out with some of the greatest players on the poker circuit in several land based events, including the EPT circuit.

Hougaard will be launching his own personal blog in conjunction with bet365 where he will share his poker experiences. The site will list his personal poker diary, strategy tips and much more, making it the perfect reference for poker players of all levels and abilities.

Hougaard, who was born in Copenhagen, also spent time in London as a child. A devoted table tennis player and former coach of the Danish National Table Tennis Team, Hougaard was inspired to play poker by his fellow Dane and renowned poker pro Gus Hansen.

Poker's popularity exploded in Denmark a few years ago, carrying Hougaard amongst its newest converts. Jesper started playing friendly cash games at school, winning $20-$40 a night. From there he moved on to playing online poker where he now rules the tables.

The 2008 World Series of Poker proved to be the turning point in his poker career. He cashed in two WSOP events before winning his first bracelet in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em walking away, with a prize pool of over $610,000.00 and a coveted WSOP bracelet.
