It's a Long Run of losers for Bookies

Betfred boss Fred Done:
"It's been a Long Run of losers for us bookies at this festival and the satchel is well and truly empty and I might have to hitch back to Manchester. This is the worst Festival for a long time with Quevega, Hurricane Fly, Chicago Grey, Big Buck's, Junior, Bobs Worth and of course Gold Cup winner Long Run all obliging for the punters."
The Gold Cup was an exceptional race with Long Run becoming the first six year old to win since Mill House in 1963 and Sam Waley-Cohen becoming the first amateur to win since Jim Wilson in 1981.
Fred Done added:
"Long Run may have cost me but it was a fantastic for horse-racing especially with so many people watching. It was a cracker and showed British Racing at its best. It was fantastic for the old guard to be right up there swith Denman and Kauto Star getting placed. Racing need its stars."
Betfred immediately quoted a price of 6/1 for Long Run to comeback and retain his crown but the punters quickly snapped this up and the Nicky Henderson trained horse is now 3/1 to make it a double.
