Introduction to online roulette

There are two different variations of Roulette, American and European, and many online casinos feature both of these games, regardless of where they are licensed. The games are almost identical in rules and gameplay with one small difference. On the American Roulette wheel, there is one extra number on the wheel, the 00, which gives it the additional name of Double Zero Roulette. With both American and European Roulette there are numbers 1 through 36, plus 0. With the extra 00 on the American Roulette wheel, there are a total of 38 numbers, whereas American Roulette has 37.
How to Play Online Roulette
In Roulette, players first place their bets on the table layout, and then the dealer spins the wheel, allowing the ball to rotate landing on a number. The real part of the game is how players make their bets. Online Roulette works very much like a Roulette game in a brick and mortar casino, though players can play independently at a table or with others depending upon the structure. Since betting is where the real part of the game comes in, here are the options that players have which is where they can apply their luck or their strategy.
1. Straight up bet (1 number bet) – this means betting on just one number on the Roulette wheel; any number between 1 and 36
2. Corner bet (4 number bet) – this refers to placing a chip on the Roulette betting board that touches 4 corners, or 4 numbers to bet on 4 numbers at a time
3. Split bet (2 number bet) – this refers to betting on 2 numbers with one bet. On the board, players must place a chip so it straddles between the two boxes
4. Line bet (6 number bet) – players can bet on all numbers in one line, which is a total of 6. The chip must be placed on the left boundary line to place this type of bet
5. Five bet (5 number bet) – this allows players to bet on 5 numbers, but they are specific ones; 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 in American Roulette
6. Column bet – with a column bet, players can bet on all numbers in a column
7. Dozen bet – this is a bet that players can place in a special box of the betting area. They receive a payout if any number in their 12 is hit on the Roulette wheel
8. Low risk bets – often more casual players use these bets and choose to bet on red or black, low or high, even or odd
With most online Roulette games, there is a set table minimum, and occasionally a maximum; but otherwise players can choose to bet any amount they're comfortable with and place more than one bet for each spin of the Roulette wheel.
