Interim Executive Director for Pennsylvania Lottery Named
HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Secretary of Revenue Gregory C. Fajt today announced the appointment of Ed Trees as interim executive director of the Pennsylvania Lottery.
Trees, a resident of Cumberland County, will replace Edward Mahlman, who has resigned effective Friday, Aug. 25.
Trees, 51, has worked for the Pennsylvania Lottery for more than 30 years and currently serves as the Lottery's deputy executive director for marketing. He previously served as interim executive director prior to Mahlman's appointment in early 2003.
Fajt noted that Mahlman, who has accepted a position as chief marketing officer with Philadelphia Newspapers LLC, presided over a period of unprecedented innovation and growth at the Pennsylvania Lottery. During the past four years, Lottery sales have increased from $1.9 billion to $3.07 billion. Lottery proceeds are used exclusively to help older Pennsylvanians.
