Indiana police investigate fake poker chips

FORT WANYE, Indiana -- As reported by The News-Sentinel: "Luck had nothing to do with it.

"That's what management of the Parnell Poker Palace said after gamblers 'won' $18,000. Management called police early Saturday morning, alleging a gambler had $18,000 worth of counterfeit poker chips, according to Fort Wayne Police.

"Police were called twice Sunday regarding the allegedly counterfeit chips. The second call, at 5:50 p.m., led to about a dozen people being detained by several police officers at the establishment at 4608-10 Parnell Ave.

"Staff at the palace refused comment as police were questioning the detained people. One player said police detained people who were playing cards at the blackjack table.

"The Poker Palace is a nonprofit gambling operation that runs games including blackjack, poker and Texas Hold 'em, according to its Web site. The gambling raises money for White's School of the Arts, which the site says is a nonprofit group offering behavior modification, educational and vocational classes to inner-city youths and youths at risk..."
