Indian State Bans Online Lotteries

INDIA – As reported by the India Daily: "Kerala Cabinet today approved a bill to ban online lotteries by bringing them under the purview of the Gambling Act and another bill to fix high tax on paper lotteries.
"The bills would be introduced and passed in the current assembly session itself, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters here after the cabinet meeting. The tax for bumper draw of paper lotteries had been fixed at Rs 10 lakhs and for ordinary draw Rs 2.50 lakhs, he said.
"The aim of the government was to discourage the operation of paper lotteries of other states as there were widespread complaints about their operations, he said…"
