IGT Supports National Problem Gambling Awareness Campaign

4 Mar 2005

RENO, Nevada -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- IGT, a global gaming machine manufacturer, will be a major supporter of the third annual National Problem Gambling Awareness Week (NPGAW) March 6-12.

The event, co-sponsored by the National Council on Problem Gambling and the Association of Problem Gambling Administrators, promotes awareness, education and availability of services for those with gambling problems.

IGT has taken a proactive approach to addressing the social impact of problem gambling through its formal "Responsible Gaming Program." IGT is the only U.S. gaming machine manufacturer to dedicate a full-time position to responsible gaming. The company works closely with public policy makers to ensure that social protections are implemented.

"By supporting the National Council on Problem Gambling and its state affiliates, we hope to ensure that gaming continues to be a positive entertainment experience for the public, while minimizing the impact on individuals who may be adversely affected," said TJ Matthews, IGT's chairman and CEO.

Materials for this year's NPGAW campaign were created and distributed to every state and include a TV ad, radio scripts, print ads, posters and brochures that highlight warning signs of problem gambling and provide a nationwide problem gambling Helpline at 1-800-522-4700. IGT is a major supporter of the National Problem Gambling Helpline.
