IGT Responds to Wrongful Termination Claims
RENO, Nevada – (PRESS RELEASE) -- International Game Technology (NYSE: IGT) today responded to allegations contained in a complaint filed July 8, 2004 against the Company with OSHA by two former employees alleging retaliatory termination. The former employees allege that patents acquired in connection with IGT's 2001 acquisition of Anchor Gaming are overvalued on IGT's balance sheet.
IGT issued the following statement in response:
"These allegations are baseless. Outside legal counsel, retained by an independent committee of the Board of Directors, has thoroughly reviewed the facts and found these claims to be entirely without merit. IGT believes that these allegations are nothing more than a self-serving effort on the part of the former employees to extract personal financial gain. The Company is confident in the value and strength of its patent portfolio and will protect its intellectual property against infringement. IGT will cooperate fully with OSHA in its investigation of this matter."
IGT (www.IGT.com) is a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of microprocessor-based gaming and video lottery products and software systems in all jurisdictions where gaming or video lottery is legal.
