IGCCB to administer its Gambling Counselor Certification in 2021

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Today the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board (IGCCB) announced that IGCCB will assume full responsibility to administer all International Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC) operations on 1 January 2021. As of that date, IGCCB-certified counselors and applicants must contact IGCCB directly for application, renewal, testing and all other issues. For over 20 years, NCPG has been a supporter, advisor and contracted administrator for IGCCB. The two organizations will continue to work together to ensure a smooth transition for counselors as well as members of the public seeking help.

“We believe problem gambling treatment should be provided by counselors with gambling-specific certification, and that certification should be of the highest level,” said Keith Whyte, Executive Director of NCPG. “The ICGC and other credentials developed by IGCCB meet these benchmarks. We have been pleased to serve as their administrator for all these years. As IGCCB continues to evolve, we wish them the best in their continued growth and look forward to finding new opportunities to make sure that people with gambling problems receive the highest standards of care.”
