Horseshoe Cleveland receives sustainability award
21 Sep 2015

Shaquana Burton (EVS supervisor) and Joe Garlock (Mousetrap business consultant) championed Horseshoe’s recycling efforts and attended the ceremony to accept the award.
Horseshoe Cleveland recycles 90% of its waste through various measures. In April, Horseshoe Cleveland implemented a new system called Grind2Energy, which enables the casino to recycle all of its food waste. The food waste then is turned into reusable, clean energy. The program has been more successful than originally predicted. On average, Horseshoe Cleveland recycles about 50,000 pounds of food waste each month. That’s enough to:
- Provide natural gas to heat 14 homes for one month.
- Provide electricity to power one home for about 9 months.
Already this year, Horseshoe has:
- Recycled nearly 2,000 pounds of textiles.
- Conserved 2.6 million gallons of water.
- Saved 6,500 pounds of CO2 emissions.
These efforts make Horseshoe Cleveland the leading recycler throughout the Caesars Entertainment empire – by far.
