Hoosier Park Increases Purse
ANDERSON, Indiana – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Hoosier Park at Anderson has announced a purse increase of $1,000 per race for its Thoroughbred racing program. The increase will take effect Sunday, Oct. 10. A similar purse increase took effect Sept. 22.
As with the Sept. 22 purse increase, this increase is the result of conservative purse account management at the beginning of the meet. However, positive business factors also influenced the increase.
"Thanks in large part to fuller fields, we have had an increase in our simulcast signal handle of nearly 20 percent a night over the past two weeks," said Hoosier Park President and General Manager Rick Moore. "Also, we had near-record handles during Indiana Derby weekend. That, coupled with our conservative approach to the purse account at the beginning of the meet, allowed us to increase purses again."
Hoosier Park, a majority-owned property of Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN), also operates simulcast-wagering facilities in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Merrillville, Ind. Hoosier Park's Thoroughbred season will continue through Sunday, Nov. 21. Live racing is conducted Wednesday through Sunday with the first race going to post at 6:10 p.m. Information about Hoosier Park racing and all of its facilities can be found on the Internet at http://hoosierpark.com.
