Rebecca Liggero
Rebecca Liggero loves meeting new people and traveling – perfect qualities for someone who has won friends and influenced people in the worldwide online gaming community. After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true! Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family. One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, CalvinAyre.com. In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane." Contact Rebecca at rebecca@liggero.net. Be careful, though – she might quote you.

Highlights from CAC Macau and Farewell Casino City!

Drinks with the boys at CAC Macau

I am back from Macau, and the rumors are true- I am leaving Casino City and joining Everest Affiliates on Wednesday, December 5th as the Property (brand) Marketing Manager. Yes, I will still be in Boston, yes, I will still be attending online gaming conferences, and yes, I will continue to write for your reading pleasure and enjoyment. As many of you know, Casino City has been like a family to me, and I will greatly miss Michael, Eric, Steven and the rest of the Casino City /GPWA crew. There is a part of me that will secretly miss driving up to Montreal in the Corfman mini van and I might even miss transporting the booth and books by hand when traveling to online gaming events. Ok, that's a blatant lie. So, anyone want my job? I'm serious! Casino City is hiring...you could join me in Boston and become a Patriots fan. Even though its slightly cold in the winter, Boston is a fabulous city- ask Warren Jolly- he loves it here. Anyway, enough of my boring personal life, and on to highlights from CAC Macau.

GPWA cocktail party sponsored by Team Boat Chief
Team Boat Chief, also known as AffiliateClub.com, was kind enough to sponsor the one and only organized party at CAC Macau. This also means they sponsored my trip to Macau, so I owe you guys one! Considering the attendee to Venetian staff ratio was roughly 1:1, the apps and alcohol were readily available from 5 to 7pm while all CAC attendees had the opportunity to meet and make plans for the evening. Thank you AffiliateClub.com and hail to the Boat Chief!

Chinese gamblers love green tea. And hookers.
Macau is not Vegas, let me tell you. First and foremost, Chinese men drink green tea as opposed to free booze when gambling. Um, what!? Doesn't that take the fun out of the entire experience? The vibe in Macau is so serious- such concentration- no yelling, no cheering, no drunken inappropriate behavior, and no nightclubs in the hotels. No nightclubs! The Wynn Macau had a club Tryst but it was shut down due to lack of business. Are you kidding me? Ah well, at least the Macau casinos have plenty of hookers.

AffiliateClub.com's John Ryott + Pentasia's Rob Dowling = trouble
Who would ever think that these kind, charming, and successful individuals could be such trouble? These two are ridiculous. Put them in a bar- any bar- and you will have a comedy show. That is, until they sneak off to some place where girls are not allowed (whatever that means). There is only one person in this industry who can down nine vodka martinis in 30 minutes and I will let you guess who that is. There is only one person in this industry that will purchase multiple rounds of tequila shots at 7pm, and I will let you guess who that is as well.

Best dressed in the industry

Best dressed in the industry

Erik the Unibet Swede wins best dressed in the industry
As a result of all the nationalities represented in the online gaming industry, our crowd covers just about every fashion statement in existence. However, there is no denying that Erik the Unibet Swede is by far and away the best dressed in the industry, no matter what country you are from. Believe me, I am not the only one who feels this way- it was a hot topic at the GPWA/AffiliateClub.com cocktail party in Macau. While most of us stumble into the conference hall in the morning looking like absolute death, Erik waltzes in looking like he has arrived straight from a photo shoot. Find Erik at night and he is decked out in Prada. Erik, can you move to Boston please? We need more men like you over here.

Beautiful Hong Kong

Beautiful Hong Kong

Hong Kong puts Macau to shame
After Macau I decided to spend the weekend in Hong Kong with some very good affiliate friends of mine, and much to my surprise, I absolutely loved it there. The actual island of Hong Kong is very modern, international, fashionable, full of high end shopping, and everyone speaks English. I know, I am so American. The nicest surprise was the nightlife- "Dragon-i" was Friday night's first destination, a very hip and international club with some of the best music I have ever heard and one of the best looking crowds I have ever seen. We also stopped in "Qube", a small club across the street from "Dragon-i" with a "Models Only" sign out front. How did we get in? A finger print, a head shot, and my affiliate friend's American Express Black Card, of course.
