High Five Tournament Series prizes exceed $1 million

15 Jun 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- They came for the $942,000 in guaranteed prize money, but what they got was access to tournament prize pools that exceeded expectations. Americas Cardroom's most recent High Five Tournament Series featured total prize pools worth $1,012,475, well above and beyond the $942,000 that was guaranteed.

"Another High Five is in the bag and we'd like to thank everyone who brought their poker buds out for the 5-day series," stated Michael Harris, spokesperson for Americas Cardroom. "And of course, we'd like to give a shout out to those who burned through tournament fields to take down a title, including 'this is punny' who won our $420,000 guaranteed Main Event on Sunday."

The High Five ran from June 8 through 12 and featured $942,000 in guaranteed prize money. The 5-day schedule featured 25 tournaments spread out over five days. Players were able to participate in a variety of poker tournaments and formats, including No Limit Hold'em, PLO, Hyper Turbos, Rebuys, Knockouts, and more.

While some tournaments saw overlays, the entire series featured a final collective prize pool of $1,012,475 — more than $70,000 on top of what had been guaranteed. The most successful tournament in the series was arguably the $100+9 buy-in event on Sunday, June 12th, which featured $100,000 in guaranteed prize money and saw a final prize pool of more than $130,000.

The hallmark event was a $420,000 guaranteed tournament on the final day of the series. The No Limit Hold'em tourney offered exceptional value, with 988 entries fueling the prize pool to $414,960, offering an overlay of over $5,000. The tournament title went to 'this is punny', who earned $80,262 for his finish. 'ArubaAriba' walked away with $49,560 for second place while 'biggogi' earned $34,440 for third.

Those who missed out on the High Five still have plenty of tournament action to look forward to. Players can win their way to Las Vegas for the WSOP Main Event or two packages to Dominican Republic for the Punta Cana Poker Classic via WSOP or PCPC satellites this Sunday.
