Harrah's Wins CIO 100 Award for IT Excellence
LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: HET) has been presented a 2004 CIO 100 award by CIO magazine, a national information technology industry publication published by IDG.
The annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. This year's theme is the "Agile 100," which recognizes those executives and organizations that respond quickly to changing business environments. The awards honor companies that demonstrate measurable results in how they used IT to enable and support agility in their organizations.
CIO honored Harrah's for both its breadth and depth of IT accomplishments, including its Fast Cash slot ticketing technology, a major overhaul of its Total Rewards customer-loyalty program and several new customer relationship management capabilities.
"It is very gratifying to have the CIO 100 award team once again recognize Harrah's and our IT professionals for the hard work and clear results we have been able to deliver," said Tim Stanley, Harrah's senior vice president and chief information officer. "This CIO 100 award recognition helps validate our strategic direction, and recognizes our commitment to excellence for the benefit of our customers, our employees and our shareholders."
"With the economy rebounding, companies will seek out and capitalize on new opportunities as they emerge," says Abbie Lundberg, editor-in-chief, CIO. "Those best positioned to succeed are the agile enterprises, able to move and change quickly; and to create advantage in a world in flux. This year's CIO winners have all the hallmarks: agile operations, technology, and staffing and governance models. We celebrate their achievements and expect to see great things from them in the years ahead."
