Harrah's Recover Fund Grows to $128,000
JOLIET, Illinois – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Harrah's Employee Recovery Fund continues to grow with valued financial contributions provided in part by the employees of Harrah's Joliet and Harrah's Metropolis.
To date, Harrah's Joliet employees have donated $48,136 to the fund through payroll deductions and one-time donations, and by sale of paid time off. In addition, Harrah's Joliet as a whole donated $20,000 towards the effort.
Harrah's Metropolis employees have donated an additional $60,555 to the fund via bake sales, employee dining room proceeds, payroll deductions, sale of paid time off, t-shirt sales, and patron contributions.
"I'm immensely proud of the commitment our employees have made to their colleagues in the Gulf region," said Joe Domenico, Harrah's regional president for the state of Illinois. "Their efforts will make a real difference in the lives of the roughly 9,000 Harrah's family members who were impacted by recent storms."
The Harrah's Employee Recovery Fund was established in September 2005 to assist employees impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The Fund was seeded with an allocation of $1 million from the Harrah's Foundation, and has since received more than $2 million in additional donations from Harrah's employees, vendors, business partners, customers and individuals from around the country.
