Harrah's Employee Recovery Fund Now Taking Applications
LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Harrah's Employee Recovery Fund is now accepting applications for assistance from non-management employees displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET) announced today. Management-level employees may apply under a separate program for a loan of up to $2,500.
The recovery fund was seeded by a $1 million commitment from the Harrah's Foundation, which oversees the fund. About $2.9 million has been raised for the fund to date.
The nearly 9,000 Harrah's employees affected by the storms can also request assistance through "Harrah's Helping Hands," an employee-to-employee assistance program. The program matches affected employees with a Harrah's colleague in another part of the country, who helps fulfill the specific needs of their fellow employee and their family.
Applications for both the recovery fund and Helping Hands are available on the Harrah's Recovery Website, at the Lake Charles employee information center, or by calling the Harrah's Employee Emergency Relief hotline -- 877-422-7466. The deadline for applications is November 10.
