Hail to the Chief! Throw your hat in the ring in "President"
5 Apr 2012
The person who goes out first is declared the "President," second place earns "Vice President" honors, while the person who finishes last is the "Beggar."
The player who starts the trick may decide whether he/she will play a single card or multiples (that is, multiples of the same face value). All other players must follow suit either play a card (or cards, in the case of multiples) of higher value than the card(s) on top of the trick. If unable to do this, a player can pass. The player who played the card with the highest value to the trick wins the round and initiates the next round.
In multi-hand competitions, after the first hand is complete and the hierarchy is set, the President gets to trade his worst two cards for the Beggar's best two cards, while the Vice President and Vice Beggar trade one card.
A round comes to an end when the second-last player disposes of his last card, whereby all offices, from President to Beggar, have been appointed. The player who is titled President in the final round of play wins the game.
If you are a champ at the game with the slightly different name, if you're just looking to relive the old glory days, or if you just want to give a new game against other people a try, head to StarGames and throw your hat in the ring. If you think the batch of politicians running for office don't cut it, throw your own hat in the ring and you could be President!
