Golden Spirit Poker stops accepting US players
Some of you may be aware that the United States Congress has recently passed a bill aiming at making it unlawful for U.S. banks to process financial transactions related to online gaming.
Firstly, an important point to note is that the new Act does not make internet gaming illegal. This new bill is aimed primarily to prevent the transfer of funds to online gaming. It makes the various payment processing activities unlawful if done in relation to illegal internet gaming. What is considered illegal in the case of internet gaming is left to existing law. Secondly, once the bill has been signed the U.S. banks have nine months (270 days) to implement the new rules.
This obviously causes a great deal of concern on how it will affect you, our customers, and the future of the businesses of online poker and gaming. We are continuing to investigate what impact these new rules and regulations may have on our business and will try to clarify our position for you.
Currently, U.S. residents are still able to play on our "play for fun" site and we will continue to accept registrations from U.S. residents. However, we will not be accepting any monetary deposits from U.S. residents due to the latest proposed legislation. We cannot speculate on how this may affect your online poker experience in the future but we thank you for your patience and understanding on this unfortunate matter.
