German gambling regulator imposes first fine

An administrative offense notice in the five-digit amount was issued to a provider of games of chance on the Internet, which, after receiving the state gambling permit by the GGL, deliberately advertised its offer on websites on which illegal offers are also advertised. This is not permitted according to the advertising provisions of the State Treaty on Gambling.
The intention of the State Treaty on Gambling is to ensure player protection by strictly separating legal and illegal offers.
Legal providers of gambling on the Internet are not allowed to advertise on websites that also advertise illegal gambling.
Board member Ronald Benter: "We consider these advertising regulations to be very good and justified. The GGL consistently monitors the offers of legal providers. In the event of violations, we levy severe fines. The withdrawal of the licence in the event of repeated violations of the provisions of the State Treaty on Gambling is also a measure that we do not shy away from."
CEO Benjamin Schwanke adds: "The legal online gambling providers can have no interest in advertising on sites that also advertise illegal gambling. This damages the reputation of the providers".
