Genting submits bid for upstate New York casino license
Through the company’s Americas division, Genting said it paid the $1 million application fee to the New York State Gaming Commission as part of an application for one of four casino licenses for the Hudson Valley and Catskill regions.
The company does not yet have a site selected, but is in talks with potential land owners, local town officials and countywide leaders about site possibilities. Genting hopes to announce a site selection in the coming weeks.
“Destination resorts are our specialty, and we are excited to work with local municipalities and the state of New York to acquire a site where we can build a facility that will help further bolster the Empire State’s thriving tourism economy,” said Genting Americans Senior Vice President Christian Goode said in a statement.
The company already operates Resorts World Casino New York City, the slot machine-only casino attached to the Aqueduct Racetrack.
