Gaming Giants Target UK Towns
UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the U.K. Times: "American gambling giants will target every major town and city in Britain for "mega-casinos" under liberalized licensing laws being planned by the Government.
"The US firms are lining up to take advantage of a decision not to impose a central limit on the number of Las Vegas-style casinos that can be considered under a modernisation of gambling legislation.
"…MGM Mirage, the world's largest casino operator, expects Britain to provide 10 per cent of its revenue before the end of the decade. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has confirmed there will be no ceiling on the number of Las Vegas-style mega-casinos with million-pound slot machines.
"…The list of sites reveals plans for every major city, as well as a concentration of developments in locations such as Felixstowe, where three are planned, Glasgow (five), Guildford (three), Wolverhampton (two) and Corby.
