Full Flush Poker announces Stairway to Vegas Step Challenge winners
26 May 2015
The 3 FFP players excelled on the day to beat the 154-strong field in the $120 Buy-in event that took just shy of six hours to conclude. When the final table was set, 10 players' dreams of making it big at the poker tables in Las Vegas breathed new life, yet only three of the 10 finalists would emerge with their hopes alive.
The trio who outlasted the competition is Boris49, Splash and AWINTER. At this stage, Boris49 will be flying solo winging his way to Sin City for a taste of poker’s holy grail in the WSOP* Millionaire Maker tournament, compliments of Full Flush Poker. The cool part is, this preliminary WSOP event boasts a Guaranteed $1 Million first place prize for the winner.
Boris49, a 24 year-old law school graduate from New Hampshire, picked up the basics of Hold’em in October last year on a play money online poker site, before depositing to play real money at FFP in December last year. He considers himself very much a beginner, and has clearly drawn on his love of strategy games, including chess, to better his poker play.
“I caught a few good breaks to make the final table, and with 4 left, was shortstacked after calling an ALL IN by AWINTER when he had J-10 off suit, and I had K-10 suited. He spiked two Jacks. I was down to about 450K chips with 15K Big Blinds, but found some good hands to shove, and made it through. It was a great game by everyone,” said Boris49.
His prize package, valued at $5,000, includes the $1,500 WSOP Millionaire Maker tournament Buy-in, 6 nights 5-Star accommodation at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas (valued at $1,580), plus $2,000 in cash for travel and other expenses.
Splash, from Bremen, Germany, and AWINTER, from Liverpool, England, both regretfully declined their tournament entry due to work commitments and personal circumstances. They have however, received the $3,500 cash component of the prize package for their 2nd and 3rd place finishes.
The Stairway to Vegas Step Challenge presented a series of freerolls and step tournaments from February 1, culminating in the Sunday, May 17 $120 Buy-in ‘Stairway’ Main Event; the online poker promotion was all about giving more FFP members a chance at both life-changing money and an unforgettable life experience.
Additional prizes for places 4th through 25th in FFP’s Stairway to Vegas Step Challenge included 2015 Season Passes for various Full Flush Poker big money tournaments.
