French regulator warns against illegal casinos on Facebook

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The modus operandi of these individuals is always the same: dissemination via a newly created fake user account on the FACEBOOK site of usurped photos and logos bearing the name of the French casino establishment, most often associated with the terms "Online Casino". These spoofed images are then used to illustrate publications that include several internet links redirecting to fake mobile application download pages such as APPLE STORE or GOOGLE PLAY, which in turn refer to illicit gambling sites, mainly online casinos.

The National Gaming Authority reminds you that no online casino website is allowed on French territory. It invites anyone who notices the presence of such advertisements to report them from this link.

To date, the ANJ, which monitors illegal sites on a daily basis, has reported about 400 URLs to the company META (which operates the FACEBOOK site). These reports resulted in the closure of 137 user accounts.

Playing on an illegal site carries multiple risks for the player:

- Non-payment of winnings;
- Payment fraud;
- Collection of personal data;
- Installation of malicious computer programs
- No protection in the event of a dispute.

If you have any doubts about the legality of the gambling site you are about to bet on, consult the list of sites approved by the ANJ.

- If the site is in this list or is part of the online lottery offer offered by the FDJ, no problem.
- If not, you're on an illegal site.
