Ferguson Wins Second Place
LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Full Tilt Poker's Chris Ferguson once again proved why he is considered one of the world's most skilled poker players, navigating his way through a tough 64-person field to score his second consecutive, second-place finish at the National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
Ferguson, who won the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2000, bested notables Chip Reese, Josh Arieh, and fellow WSOP Main Event champion and Full Tilt Poker pro, Huckleberry Seed, on his way to this year's final table. After jumping out to a 1-0 nothing lead, eventual champion Ted Forrest battled back, winning the remaining two heads-up matches after nearly three-and-one-half hours of total play.
Last year, Ferguson fell to Phil Hellmuth after working his way through an equally dangerous contingent of professional opponents, including Gus Hansen, Mike Sexton, and T.J. Cloutier.
Full Tilt Poker's Huckleberry Seed had a much stronger run in this year's event than he did in 2005, where he was defeated by eventual champion Phil Hellmuth in the second round. This year, Seed defeated David Oppenheim and Erick Lindgren in the first two rounds, and Scott Fischman and Barry Greenstein in the later matches before losing to Ted Forrest in the semi-finals. Seed's tie for third earned him $125,000.
"Considering the talent and level of play shown in this event, Chris' ability to reach the final table two years in a row shows why he is considered to be one of the world's finest pros," said Tiltware LLC CEO Raymond Bitar.
