BOSTON -- Voters in East Boston sounded the death knell for a casino at Suffolk Downs by rejecting the casino at referendum, The Boston Globe reported.

Similarly voters rejected the Mohegan Sun proposed casino in Palmer, the report said.

The future of Suffolk Downs is in jeopardy as the through bred track has been losing money for years and was hoping a casino might reverse its fortunes, the Boston Globe report explained.
