Dutch Gaming Authority publishes new enforcement policy on illegal games of chance
12 Dec 2023
Previously, the Ksa worked with an internal assessment framework. The starting point was that the Ksa mainly plays a supporting role. Supervisors of the Ksa offered remote support or joined in with actions by partners to combat subversion (e.g. by municipalities, FIOD, Public Prosecution Service or the police). Exceptionally, independent enforcement action was taken (e.g. for checks after a revoked permit), but in general this was done by the police or municipalities.
With the new policy, the Ksa takes on a more proactive and independent role. It will become clearer to enforcement partners in the country how the Ksa acts in the event of illegal land-based gambling (e.g. illegal poker tournaments or gaming machines) and how it can provide support for actions by partners. In addition, the Ksa will also act independently and impose sanctions when a serious violation is found.
