Dover Downs to host Delaware Poker Championship IV

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Crown Royal Poker Room at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino will host the annual Delaware Poker Championship IV tournament on Saturday, August 30th, beginning at 11 a.m.

Last year’s tournament garnered 206 participants, and the final pot reached $108,150. The final table chopped the pot with the top three agreeing to split $61,000.

The poker room now features daily $35 poker tournaments beginning at 11:15 a.m., “a great opportunity to gain tournament experience,” said Peter McGuire, poker room manager. “The relaxed atmosphere and low investment are attracting the casual poker players who enjoy playing the game for fun.”

A beginner’s tournament is held on Sundays with a low $25 buy in and 6:15 p.m. start. “People who have enjoyed playing the game around the kitchen table now have an opportunity to test their skills against other kitchen table players. The response has been very encouraging and the players are having a ball,” said McGuire.

The poker room is open daily, 24 hours. Must be 21 to enter and to play in the Poker Room.
