Dover Downs a part of Atlanta casino proposal

ATLANTA, Georgia -- As reported by The News Journal: "Dover Downs Gaming & Entertainment is part of a group that wants to put a half-billion-dollar casino and hotel complex in downtown Atlanta, which would be Georgia's first slots parlor.
"The project would help renovate and expand Underground Atlanta, the historic downtown entertainment and shopping center, which has been struggling.
"Dover Downs has signed a letter of intent to operate the venture, said President and CEO Denis McGlynn in a conference call on Monday.
"The proposal would require approval from the Georgia Lottery Board. Georgia does not currently allow slot machine gambling, although several neighboring states do. No change in state law would be required..."
