Is there any truth that machines on the end pay off better?

Should you always put the most amount of coins in each time?

Dear M.A.:

Most slot directors today order about the same payback percentage for all of their machines in a particular denomination. The machines on the end will have the same payback percentage as the machines in the middle.

I don't think you should always bet max coin on every spin. On straight multipliers, for example, betting more than one coin per spin is a waste because you're not getting an increase in hit frequency or payback percentage.

Hello again!!

I felt like a celebrity when I read my question online! Thank you so much.

In Arnie's letter, just above mine on August 8, you mentioned a TIN when winning jackpots. I know it's a Tax Identification Number, but is that the same as a Social Security number? I thought only businesses and such had TINs.

The reference to TINs was on a Web page on the IRS site from which I was quoting. I searched on the IRS site for information about Taxpayer Identification Numbers and this is what I found out.

According to the IRS site, TIN is the general name for any Taxpayer Identification Number. It includes Social Security Numbers, Employer Identification Numbers, Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers, Taxpayer Identification Numbers for Pending U.S. Adoptions, and Preparer Taxpayer Identification Numbers.
