DimeSports.net names winners
According to Rob Braddy, President of DimeSports.net, more than 1,250 members signed up this year from places as far away as Australia and Canada. In Atlanta this week, Braddy presented the top prize winners with a check presentation. The video of the check presentation can be viewed at youtube.com where a complete list of winners and their prizes were identified:
-- 1st Place: Jarrod West (W. Virginia) -- Prize: $100,000
-- 2nd Place: Lloyd Matt (Andover, MN) -- Prize: $50,000
-- 3rd Place: Dean Schmidt (Atlanta, Georgia) -- Prize: $25,000
Going into his third year as a FFL player, First Place winner Jarrod "No limit" West had mostly competed in local tournaments. He said he decided to try DimeSports.net when he saw the low entry fee ($49), along with the very lucrative first place prize of $100,000, and weekly cash prizes of up to $2,000.
West says he was also attracted by the many innovations found on the DimeSports.net website, such as timely and up-to-date news from around the league, free Message Boards and Forums, a generous $50 million salary cap, no draft restrictions -- any active NFL player selected by DimeSports could be on your dream team, and freedom to juggle weekly roster through cuts and trades.
DimeSports.net also featured a weekly column from Shannon Sharpe called "Play Em...Who's Hot; Sit Em...Not This Week," where Sharpe provided insightful commentary on players to watch and discussed the pros and cons of potential trades.
"After I started the first week in 2nd place and then ran off a string of weekly first place finishes, I began to feel like I had a shot," said First Place winner West. West talked about the hours of time it takes to compete in Fantasy Football, from studying injury updates, reviewing weather reports, following gametime decisions, and more. He explained that the season tightened up around weeks 6 - 12, when competition began to take more chances, but said victory was sealed when he made a risky late-season roster move to "drop Patriots receiver Randy Moss for Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald."
On the DimeSports.net Forums section this week players continue to ring in with positive commentary about the functionality of the site, its rules and gameplay. Others mentioned that guaranteeing the prize money is a huge attraction for even the very best league players.
Second place finisher Lloyd "LRMIII" Matt who took home $50,000, commented that playing DimeSports.net was easily the most fun he has had in FF. He also commented that "It was nice not to be subjected to injuries or bad years from players that you would have normally drafted. In other big money contests if you have the bad luck of a season ending injury, it could easily wreck your FF season."
DimeSports.net recently started a Forum to collect ideas for next season and is asking current and prospective players to give their thoughts on ways to improve the site and their experience. Braddy is also encouraging fantasy leaguers to get in the game early for next year by signing up for the DimeSports.net newsletter, or by becoming an affiliate and receiving 10% off the sign-up for each referral. More details are available at http://dimesports.net/idevaffiliate/. Those who sign up for the newsletter will get notice of an upcoming reduced fee period for next season along with insider information on new player moves, impact of draft, and other important developments.
"Our goal is to make DimeSports.net the first stop for Fantasy Leaguers and continue to offer the most lucrative prizes and the greatest overall experience," said Braddy.
