Crown Bingo donates to charity

NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, England -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Leading online bingo company Crown Bingo have topped £1000 in charitable donations after a series of successful Charity Bingo events held at their website. The milestone was reached following May's successful charity event on behalf of premature baby charity BLISS and comes just 4 months after the first event was held in February.

Chief Executive of BLISS, Andy Cole, said: "Without the help of generous individuals and companies like Crown Bingo we would not be able to make the difference that these most vulnerable babies desperately need. One in every eight babies in the UK is born too soon, too small or too sick to cope on their own. BLISS provides much-needed support and advice to families through what can be an incredibly difficult time, champions exciting new advances in care, and campaigns for increased resources to improve the long-term outcomes for these babies. Thank you for your invaluable support."

...During Crown Bingo's Charity Bingo games on May 12th, 50% of the prize pools were donated to BLISS, which generated a fantastic response from Crown Bingo members flooding to the website to help raise money for the charity. But it was the Crown Bingo Knit-a-thon that prompted the biggest response with members knitting and sending in their items to be donated to BLISS.

BLISS distribute knitwear to neonatal clinics across the country to help premature babies who are too small for high street bought baby clothes. In support of this Crown Bingo asked all of its members to send in their knitted cardigans, hats and boots which they will forward to BLISS as well as an extra donation for each one received. The response has been fantastic with boxes of cardigans arriving on a daily basis.

Managing Director Dan Smyth said: "The response to the knit-a-thon has been astounding. We're very proud to be able to help such a worthwhile cause and it is fantastic to see so many of our members getting involved."

Previous charities that Crown Bingo have worked with include The Variety Club, Cancer Research, and St. Oswald's Hospice. June's charity appeal is for Orchid Cancer Awareness who exist to save men's lives from male cancers through pioneering research and promoting awareness. Crown Bingo's Charity Co-ordinator Kirsty Bates said: "Father's Day is one of June's major events and we thought it suitable and relevant to select Orchid and their Checked Out campaign as our Charity of the Month, especially as June is Male Cancer Awareness Month." To raise money for this cause 50% of the prize pools will be donated to Orchid from all the games of bingo between 7pm and 9pm on Monday 23rd of June in Room 2.
