Cazayous calls bluff to win gold bracelet

Thomas Cazayous is the winner of the $3,000 6-Max. He wins the World Series of Poker gold bracelet and the $414,766 first prize. This is Cazayous’ first bracelet in his first final table appearance. The 24 year-old poker pro resides in London, but is originally from Paris, France.

On the final hand, Nicholas Howard check-raised all in on the river. Cazayous took about a minute before calling.

“You’re going to win the tournament with that call,” Howard said.

Cazayous had two pair against the queen-high of Howard and won his first WSOP bracelet. Cazayous says he mostly plays cash games online. He came into the final table with the chip lead and felt confident all the way through.

“I don’t want to say I think I was the best. I was pretty sure what I had to do and people didn’t put me to tough decisions,” he said.

Cazayous was very quiet during play. His rail was a little loud with cheers and singing at times, but he says he would prefer a quieter final table.

“In a perfect world I would have preferred no noise,” he said.

“When we are playing and even if I’m not in the hand, I have to see what people are doing, the sizing they use, the way they are acting,” he said.

The tournament drew 754 entries and a prize pool of $2,035,800. Cazayous and Howard entered the unofficial final table of seven players with the top two chip stacks.

Cazayous held a massive chip lead after sending De Silva to the rail. He entered heads up play with a seven-to-one chip lead and Howard gained a little ground, but eventually fell to the young Frenchmen.

This brings Cazayous’ total WSOP tournament winnings to $439,102 as he takes home his first bracelet. He says he plans to play many more events this year than in previous years. Last year, he brought his girlfriend out and says this year she stayed home which will allow him to focus more on tournaments.
