Casino Hold'em, which can be found at PlayersOnly Casino, is a five-card poker game using a single 52-card deck. To win, you must beat the dealer by getting a higher five-card hand. You and the dealer can both use the community cards to complete a hand. Play begins when you place the ante bet. You may also place an optional AA+ bet. You win this bet if a pair of aces or higher is dealt in the first five cards.
After you place the ante, two cards are dealt to you face up, two cards are dealt to the dealer face down, and three flop cards are dealt on the table. At this point, you evaluate your hand to decide if you want to continue. If you fold, you forfeit your ante and any AA+ winnings you qualify for. If you call, your call bet is placed at double the ante.
If you call, the last turn and the river are dealt and the dealer's cards are shown. The dealer must have a pair of 4s or higher to qualify. If the dealer's hand does not qualify, you win, the ante bet is paid out according to the pay table and the call bet pushes.
If the dealer's hand qualifies, it is compared to your hand. If the dealer's hand is lower, you are paid out according to the ante pay table and the call bet pays 1:1. If the dealer's hand is higher, you lose both your ante and your call bets. Even if you lose against the dealer, you still receive AA+ winnings that you qualify for, paid out according to the pay table.
When you and the dealer tie, the kicker, determines the winner.
The biggest decision you must make when playing Casino Hold'em, is whether or not the AA+ bet is a viable option. The payouts are lucrative, but keep in mind that you must have Aces or better in your first five cards to qualify. Our suggestion is to stay away from the AA+ bet, unless you're in the midst of a nice little roll and have the extra bankroll to risk. Even then, play the AA+ bet for half the amount you risk on the ante bet.
As a general rule on the ante bet, only call when you have a pair of fours or better, or a drawn chance at a flush or inside straight. It's always better to wait things out, rather than going fishing in the flop or hoping the dealer fails to qualify.
One aggravating note to mention: When you do fold, the dealer's cards are automatically mucked. Not that it matters, but some of us like to see the pain as well as feeling it from the loss off the top of our bankroll.
