Atlanta -2.5 over Washington
It appears that home field is the key so far this season for the Atlanta Falcons. With a 3-2 record, all three wins have come at home, while both losses were on the road, even though one was technically a road game for both teams in London.
After a rough offensive output during weeks three and four, the Falcons showed signs of life on that side of the ball last weekend in a 21-19 win over the Houston Texans, including a one-handed catch with the ball pinned against his side from Bijan Robinson.
The young Atlanta QB, Desmond Ridder, got a little more help at the wide receiver position this week as the Falcons traded for Van Jefferson from the Los Angeles Rams. Even though he only has eight receptions on the season, his yards per catch is 13.5.
Expect the offense to continue to improve this week as it goes up against the Washington Commanders with a defense that gives up 385 yards per game. On top of that, the Commanders have given up at least 33 points in the last four games with no signs of improvement.

Chicago +3 over Minnesota
What did we learn from Chicago’s 40-20 road win over the Washington Commanders last Thursday? Get the ball in D.J. Moore’s hands. Moore exploded for eight catches, 230 yards and three touchdowns.
Needless to say, Moore has really been able to help Justin Fields get going. After a struggling start to the season for the young QB, Fields has eight touchdown passes and over 600 yards through the air in his last two games.
Fields is also a very capable player to beat defenses with his legs if the pocket closes on him and he can extend plays with his speed.
The big story in this matchup will be the absence of arguably the best wide receiver in football, Justin Jefferson, who just landed on IR earlier this week with a hamstring injury.
The Vikings have not had much success from running the ball this season and without their top target, signal caller Kirk Cousins will have his hands full if he wants to keep his team in this game.

Detroit -3.5 over Tampa Bay
With Aaron Rodgers out of Green Bay, the NFC North division was up for grabs. Enter the Lions. Detroit has made a statement early with a 4-1 overall record to go along with a two-game lead in the division. Green Bay is in second with a 2-3 record, but the Lions beat the Packers just two weeks ago, 34-20.
Led by Jared Goff, this Lions offense can flat out move the ball. With 394 yards of offense per game, the Lions of recent years have had to do more of their work through the air. This year though, with the addition of David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs, the Lions are getting nearly 150 ground yards per game.
Winners of its last three, Detroit had control in all of these contests and ended up winning each by at least two touchdowns. Head coach Dan Campbell has his team trending in the right direction and will face a surprising 3-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.
The Bucs opened the year with a tough 26-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Since then, the Bucs haven’t been tested by an above average team besides the Philadelphia Eagles, who took control of that game enroute to a 25-11 win.
Keep an eye out on the injury report for Detroit as both Gibbs and tight end Sam LaPorta are questionable. LaPorta recorded a multi-touchdown performance last week, including one from a trick play out of Campbell’s playbook.

Las Vegas -3 over New England
If you think that the Raiders aren’t going to get up for this week’s game at Allegiant Stadium after just defeating the Green Bay Packers, 17-13, at home on Monday Night Football, then you don’t know what’s at stake. Despite the fact that Las Vegas is only 2-3, this is a revenge game from top to bottom for the silver and black. General Manager Dave Ziegler used to be the Director of Player Personnel for the Patriots. Head coach Josh McDaniels used to be the Offensive Coordinator for New England. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo used to be the signal caller for the Patriots. And the most recent member of this list, wide receiver Jakobi Meyers used to stretch the field for New England. This is personal!
Talk about a team that the rest of the league kept receipts on. The Patriots enter this week at 1-4 fresh off the two worst defeats in Bill Belichick’s head coaching career, a 38-3 loss in Dallas Cowboys and then a 34-0 home defeat at the hands of the New Orleans Saints. To make matters worse, there doesn’t seem to be any hope, as it’s clear that Belichick’s time might have passed him by, quarterback Mac Jones probably isn’t the answer, there isn’t a number one wide receiver on the team, and the two best players outside linebacker Matt Judon and rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez are most likely gone for the rest of the season. The only saving grace for the Patriots might be if defensive end Maxx Crosby doesn’t play due to a lingering knee injury as he enters the game with 28 total tackles and five sacks.
Despite the fact that the Raiders are 0-3 ATS on short rest, this week McDaniels will join former Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt as the only coaches to defeat Belichick in each of their first three meetings.
Meyers looks to continue his momentum against his former team in Week 6.

Philadelphia -7 over New York Jets
For everyone who thinks that the Eagles have fallen off from the team that nearly won the Super Bowl last year, you’re wrong. Philadelphia enters this week’s road game at 5-0 after going out to California to take care of the Los Angeles Rams, 23-14. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has 113 completions for 1,262 yards and six touchdowns, while rushing 55 times for 206 yards and four touchdowns, which is tied for the league lead. The three-headed receiver/tight end monster, comprised of DeVonta Smith, A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert, has combined for 79 receptions for 1,036 yards and five scores. Plus, running back D’Andre Swift has 76 carries for 434 yards and two touchdowns. Then you add in the Eagles defense, which leads the league in fewest rushing yards allowed per game with 61.2, and this team is right on pace with last year’s squad.
The J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets entered the season with all the hope in the world after signing Aaron Rodgers to be their quarterback; however, that lasted only one drive before he was lost for the season with an Achilles injury. So, where does New York go from here? The Jets enter the game at 2-3 overall after defeating the Denver Broncos, 31-21, on the road. If that game showed anything, it showed promise as quarterback Zach Wilson completed a season-high 73.1% of his passes, despite throwing one interception and being sacked four times. More promising though was the play of running back Breece Hall, who is finally getting the snap-count restrictions lifted following last year’s ACL injury. The second-year back carried the ball a season-high 22 times for 177 yards and one score.
Flashes of promise aside, history is definitely not on the Jets side as they’ve never won against Philadelphia dating back 50 years, with the Eagles going 12-0 outright and 11-1 ATS.
