Casino City’s Friday Five: The Las Vegas “new normal” edition

23 Oct 2020

By Dan Ippolito
Many are wondering if the Las Vegas we are seeing now with the restrictions and capacity limits will be the “new normal,” or if it will ever return to the Sin City we used to know. We continue to see changes to Las Vegas with the Strip’s first adult-only resort coming to reality next week. Other top stories this week includes a Halloween special offer at Twin Casino, two new sports betting opportunities in Iowa, and PayPal development regarding cryptocurrency and online gambling.
Let’s start with a free spins and bonus offer from an online casino:

5. Twin Casino offering free spins on Helloween
Twin Casino is adding another bonus offer to new players. Any new visitor will be offered up to 166 free spins to play the online slot, Helloween.

Twin already offers a special welcome bonus of two separate 100% cash match deposits, up to €200 each, plus 200 free spins for all new members.

This offer is valid through the end of October for new members.

4. PayPal launches new cryptocurrency service for users
On Wednesday, PayPal Holdings announced the launch of a new service enabling its customers to buy, hold and sell cryptocurrency directly from their PayPal account.

The service will be available to PayPal account holders in the U.S. in the coming weeks. The company plans to expand the features to Venmo and select international markets in the first half of 2021.

"The shift to digital forms of currencies is inevitable, bringing with it clear advantages in terms of financial inclusion and access; efficiency, speed and resilience of the payments system; and the ability for governments to disburse funds to citizens quickly," said Dan Schulman, president and CEO, PayPal.

3. William Hill US launching new sports betting at two Iowa properties
William Hill U.S. is expanding its footprint in Iowa through its partnership with Caesars Entertainment, with the addition of a full-service sports book at Horseshoe Casino - Council Bluffs and betting kiosks at Harrah's Council Bluffs.

Bettors can visit either retail location to open a mobile account and make their first mobile deposit. Following their first deposit at the sports book, customers will have the ability to deposit and wager from anywhere in the state or any William Hill sports book.

2. TWiG: Will Las Vegas casinos ever return to normal?
Most of Sin City is open, but at limited capacity. And some Las Vegas casinos still remain closed. While the pandemic still rages, some are wondering if and when Vegas will return to normal, or if this is just the new normal.

Recently, Michael Gaughan, owner of South Point Hotel Casino and Spa went as far as to say that a full recovery may not come until sometime in 2022.

“I do think that by the start of 2022, Las Vegas casinos should be back to completely normal. I just hope Las Vegas can get back to where it was. Everybody is trying to survive and keep as many working as they can,” said Gaughan.

1. The Cromwell reopening as first adults-only resort on the Las Vegas Strip
Caesars Entertainment announced plans to resume operations at The Cromwell on Thursday, 29 October as the first adults-only resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

The boutique hotel and gaming floor will be open seven days a week for guests 21 and over. Guests of all ages will be welcome at GIADA, the award-winning restaurant of notable chef Giada De Laurentiis.

Caesars will open its remaining Las Vegas properties in line with customer demand, regulatory requirements and any additional health and safety considerations.

The Cromwell has implemented Caesars' new health and safety protocols, which enhance its existing plans and practices in these areas.
