Casino City’s Friday Five: Super Bowl LX and Las Vegas tourism edition

6 Feb 2026

By Dan Ippolito
Super Bowl LX in San Francisco is just two days away so we take a deeper dive at the betting figures that come with such a major event. Before getting into those numbers, we have Las Vegas tourism taking a hit last year, a new dayclub opening on the Las Vegas Strip, a Downtown Las Vegas jackpot win, and a progressive hitting at a Connecticut casino.

Let’s begin with a slot jackpot;
5. Palms Casino Resort awards $100k jackpot
A lucky spin at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas turned into a big win when a local Classic Club Serrano member hit a $109,361 jackpot on a Big Hot Flaming Pots slot machine.

Kristine, who is a frequent Palms visitor, hit the jackpot on 1 February in the High Limit slot area with an $8.80 bet on a 10-cent denomination machine.

4. $700k blackjack win at Mohegan Sun
On 30 January, a local Connecticut resident was playing on a blackjack table in Casino of the Earth when hitting a Super 4 Royal Flush Progressive Jackpot for $703,977.

Mohegan Sun’s Super 4 Progressive side bet pays out when the dealer has a blackjack, with prize values determined by both the player’s and dealer’s cards. The recent winner hit the game’s top payout by landing A, K, Q and J of diamonds.

3. OMNIA Dayclub and Skybar to open at Caesars Palace
Tao Group Hospitality will debut OMNIA Dayclub & Skybar, a new entertainment complex built from ground up at Caesars Palace in 2026. Spanning 46,000 square feet directly on the Strip, the venue be connected to the iconic OMNIA Nightclub by a dedicated bridge creating a day-to-night experience spanning a combined 121,000 square feet.

On the main level, two central pools anchor the club, surrounded by custom daybeds and banquettes. Along the perimeter, private cabanas and exclusive VIP plunge pools offer a refined retreat.

The deck above features shaded seating, a dedicated bar, and tiered banquettes beneath umbrellas, providing an elevated vantage point of the entire space. This level transforms into OMNIA Skybar, which will operate year-round as a destination for food, drink and Las Vegas Strip views.

2. Report: More than half of fans to bet on Super Bowl
In the countdown to this Sunday’s Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California, 51% of fans who’ll follow the football game in U.S. states and Canadian provinces with regulated sports betting plan to bet online, according to research issued by payments platform Paysafe.

Surveying fans intending to bet in the regulated markets of Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Canada’s Ontario, the report reveals that 59% of them plan to place bets on gameday and 27% expect to wager more than usual.

In addition, the American Gaming Association estimates that Americans will wager a record $1.76 billion legally on Super Bowl LX. The same AGA study shows that prediction markets are confusing consumers by promoting sports betting as an investment rather than entertainment, underscoring concerns about how these products are marketed and their lack of responsible gaming tools.

1. Las Vegas tourism declines in 2025
Las Vegas welcomed 38.5 million visitors in 2025, a 7.5% decrease compared to 2024, reflecting a year shaped by shifting travel dynamics, economic uncertainty, and evolving policy conditions.
December visitation totaled 3.1 million visitors, down 9.2% year over year. Las Vegas hosted 6 million convention attendees in 2025, nearly matching 2024 levels.

Annual hotel occupancy averaged 80.3%, down 3.3% year-over-year. Average daily room rate averaged $183.52, down 5.0%, while revenue per available room reached $147.30, down 8.8%.

In 2026, Las Vegas will host major global events, including WrestleMania 42, the Las Vegas Grand Prix, UFC International Fight Week, and the National Finals Rodeo, alongside increased international travel tied to the 2026 World Cup and America’s 250th anniversary.
